    BBC Coast June 10th 2012 

    Maya will be appearing on the new BBC Coast series which starts on Sunday May 10th. Maya will be showing how, living on the coast, life is dictated to by the tides and all that is has to offer! This will air on Sunday 10th June at 9pm.

    Marine Conservation Society 2011 Beachwatch Results 

    As  a local spokesperson for the Marine Conservation Society’s Beachwatch campaign, Maya was interviewed by BBC Radio Devon.

    Here’s the interview at 32 mins in…

    It’s great to hear that overall litter collected from our beaches over this weekend has reduced by 11%  compared to 2010 and that sewage related debris has reduced by a staggering 33%. However, baloons have seen an 8% increase and dog poo bags an 11% increase so still some work to be done to keep reminding people about marine litter and the impact on our marine environment, our health and our economy.

    Don’t miss Winterwatch for a chance to see some wonderful marine creatures that can be seen on the Devonshire coast in Winter. Maya took Martin Hughes-Games down to her local patch to explore the foreshore, hang out at/over a pontoon and solve a curious mystery!

    Maya can be seen on ITV’s Hungry Sailors on Tuesday 16th January at 4pm. She will be showing Dick and James Strawbridge how to forage on the seashore and what delicious snacks can be found lurking in the rockpools!
